Self Care

Written by Summah .Co

One sunny Friday afternoon on Eden Road we spent a self care pamper day emerged beneath eye masks, splashes and luscious plush cotton towels. Dewy skin and oil soaked hair, lounging around in towels and robes, vegan silk eye masks and messy tied scrunchie ponytails.

We had the privilege of shooting in one of our lovely followers homes. Clare has this incredible 50’s retro pink tiled bathroom and luckily for us she let us spend a afternoon shooting in her pink bathroom with lovely model Joy from Fanjam. We always look to the 1950’s for inspiration and for us this was a total crush moment where every corner of this bathroom was an absolute dream world. We paired our pink coloured solid signature five striped towels ( JARDIN , LAURENT AND MASSERIA ) with pops of peaches, pinks and daisies. The walls are in a soft pink hue in a daisy shape and then solid pink tiles which worked so well with the aesthetic we created.

Joy was such fun  to shoot with on 35mm film which we couldn’t wait to get developed. Some of our favourite products for self care days :

GISOU infused honey hair oil , Body hero by GLOSSIER , SUMMER FRIDAYS , Sephora night cream , BYREDO gypsy water soap , TONYMOLY face masks , SUMMAH SCRUNCHIES

At Home with Mooi Creative

Use this space to provide a story about the post that co-insides with your selected keywords for Google. A story is always good to add because Google is better at reading content than it is images. An image can say a thousand words yes, but Google can’t read the image except the images SEO, which is the title, alternative text, caption and description. The rest of this post will need more input from you in order to rank better, try at least 300 words. Google loves a story it can read. Use this paragraph to rewrite your own story over it. That is ultimately the best way to rank organically.

At Home with Me Living

Written by Summah .Co

Have you heard of @me__l_i_v_i_n_g and @eduanroos?  If not, I strongly recommend you follow their beautiful Instagram accounts.  The lovely couple  Eduan & Melissa gave us permission to shoot our new lifestyle range  in their exquisite home.

Eduan Roos is the Creative Director of Kraak Events and styles and creates magical arrangements for weddings and other events.  His soon to be wife, Melissa de Villliers is co-owner of Pajamas and Jam eatery (which she shares with her sister) which is in a restored eclectic warehouse in Somerset West. One of the best eateries in Cape Town that also specializes in all things tasty especially delectable sweets and treats and cakes.

The first time I saw them on Instagram,  their beautifully appointed home really resonated with me. I contacted Eduan & Melissa to introduce Summah and discuss our new range of interior lifestyle pieces we are currently exporting from Turkey. I invited my Dad (business partner) to accompany me to this shoot, this was the first time he has had exposure to this type of work and styling that I do.    Eduan welcomed us (along with Patchouli, their gorgeous black Russian terrier – who features quite frequently in the shoot too)

Prior to arrival, Eduan had taken the trouble to prepare some food and styled pieces for us – making the space look really ‘lived-in’. His simplistic and minimalistic décor/ styling, made it so easy for us to jump straight in, and shoot away.

A home with character, a combination of structure and informal open spaces.  High wooden carved ceilings, painted white slated floors. Natural and neutral palettes – whites, cream, beiges with soft luxurious furnishings and subtle pieces, with touches of whimsical pampas reeds and blooms . Our objective was to keep within the character of the elegant home and add our splashes of colour, to reflect the style of the homeowners.  We selected desert, plateau and cacti yellow blankets to achieve this. Our starting point was in their bedroom, where we laid out our cacti beige throw which paired perfectly with their duvet set and linen pillows.

The neat and simplistic bathroom space allowed for a mixture of stripes and neutrals such as crème black, stone and fresh where we could showcase our 100% cotton bathroom towels. The open plan lounge area gave us creative space to add layers and textures to add interest and warmth, to create a luxurious harmony and visual impact.  Lastly – the courtyard, where we used one of our cacti yellow throw against their day bed, scattered with woven pillows.

As part of a table-setting, we set up different scenes showing just how versatile our pieces can be.  We shot some pieces in their pantry too which is open planned and beautiful leading through the kitchen, dinning room and living room to outdoors. After all the hardwork was done – Eduan treated us to the food he had so carefully prepared for our shoot.  We tried to encorporate a soft hue color way with pops of bright yellows, denims and linen. We used figs, lemons and an assortment of bread and cakes to bring a sense of summer to this delightful outdoor space.

Thank You for an amazing time in your home!
